How much do you work?

This post is for my fellow licensed massage therapists who are curious about how I schedule my time and what my current capacity is. Here’s my week at a glance - at least the in-clinic portion of it. I’ll fill you on how I use my time behind the scenes in another post.

I work in clinic three days a week (Tue, Wed, Fri). There are 8-12 openings on my schedule per week. I try not to see more than 10 clients per week, or more than four clients per day. I’m in session with each client for 1 hour 15; one hour of that is hands-on.

I schedule 30 minutes between clients: 15 to wrap up for the previous session (i.e. clean, change, complete chart) and 15 to prepare for the next session (i.e. drink, snack, move, prepare chart). I schedule a mid-shift break of at least 1 hour (Fri) but up to 2.5 hours (Tue + Wed), which gives me time to get outside, go for a walk, and eat lunch. This means my “shifts” are usually about 8 hours long when I’m in clinic.
